Pacific International’s Automotive and Aerospace team, led by Manuel Preg, has successfully delivered a Lean Director at a leading European Aerospace manufacturer. The client, a Tier One supplier to OEMs including Airbus and Boeing, was looking to implement a Group-wide Operating System and turned to Pacific to find the right leadership to deliver it across the business.
With Pacific’s long term experience in delivering Lean expertise and our twenty plus year network in Europe, we were ideally placed to succeed. The client needed a candidate with extensive experience in the Aerospace sector, and long-term consulting experience within a high-complex, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Having begun Proof of Concept projects for their Operating System, the new Lean Director would need to learn quickly about the current process structures and complete these projects. Finding candidates with a successful track record in building an Operating System was a critical component of the search.
Pacific’s Automotive and Aerospace team worked with the HR director and line management to understand the deliverables of role and the precise candidate profile, including how they would operate within the Group structure.
Pacific were able to identify the right candidates because they understood the current state of the pilot projects, and the long-term strategy behind the Operating System.
Our focus was to headhunt individuals with the right background and industry knowledge from the consulting space because we had to identify a candidate with the right mix of hard and soft skills, eager to take up leadership of this critical piece of business infrastructure across the group. Having placed this individual, the new Lean Director has now completed the pilot Operating System roadmap and is preparing to deploy the solutions across the Group.
Speaking about Pacific’s growing activity in this complex sector, our EMEA head of Automotive and Aerospace, Manuel Preg, said ‘it’s an exciting time for Automotive and Aerospace world with the growing influence of digitisation on operations and production bringing sweeping changes. On top of that, of course, is the continuing efforts of European manufacturers and suppliers to drive efficiencies in operations and supply chain in a complex risk and regulatory environment. Pacific has decades of experience in Lean and other Process Improvement methodologies that have delivered change and transformation globally, and will continue to do.’
