Job Description

Our client is a technological advanced food delivery organization disrupting the way traditional meal prepations & portions are accessible based out in the midwest region of the US.

The Food Safety & Quality Program Manager is responsible for providing proactive leadership and instruction in the area of Food Safety across the operating network. This position is responsible for developing internal policies and procedures to shape the Food Safety department, working with in-plant resources to ensure proper implementation and training of all food safety programs, and mitigating food safety risk by structuring internal audits for compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Developing and executing written food safety and sanitation policies, procedures and training
  • Executing HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plan and prerequisite programs (sanitation, pest control, environmental testing, GMPs, etc.)
  • Working with production facilities to conduct root cause analysis and developing action plans for food safety non-conformances and customer complaints
  • Tracking completion of action plans for regulatory and internal inspection non-conformances
  • Partner with current and future suppliers and supply chain team to ensure adherence to approved supplier program
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 30% of the time
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in the areas of food safety, food microbiology, food chemistry, animal science, biology, food defense, bacteriology, food processing technologies, and/or food regulations & policy
  • HACCP certification and experience maintaining HACCP program strongly preferred
  • SQF Practitioner certification preferred
  • Previous experience with GFSI, SQF and USDA audits
  • Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA, and other state and local entities
  • Knowledge of food microbiology, food safety, and food defense
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety programs
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented, resourceful, and takes initiative
  • Capable of handling multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace change and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
